School Readings Program
  • School readings take place in schools.
  • All schools in Canada are eligible for the School Readings Program.
  • The cost per presentation is $200.00 plus GST or HST, if applicable. Presentations generally last about an hour.
  • Authors, illustrators and storytellers must be paid on the day of their visit.
  • The grade level and number of students in the audience is to be agreed upon in advance by the author, illustrator or storyteller and the host school.

 

Public Readings Program
  • Public readings take place in such venues as public libraries, community centres and bookstores.
  • The Tour Participant Presentation Fee is $250.00 per public presentation. The Canada Council for the Arts funds a portion of the presentation fees for public readings.
  • Hosts are responsible for paying $50.00 per presentation, plus any applicable GST or HST on the tour participants’ $250.00 presentation fee. The Canada Council will cover the remaining $200.00.
  • Authors, illustrators and storytellers must be paid on the day of their visit.
  • Please note that there are only four Canada Council readings available for each tour participant.
  • Bookstores should note that this program does not cover book signings that are not accompanied by a reading.
  • Schools are not eligible for public readings except in areas not served by a public library system.
