OPTION # 1 :
4 Useful Ways to Procrastinate (and 2 Ways to Bring it Back to the Page) Join me for this ode to every creative’s favourite guilty pastime—putting off work. Hold the guilt, though—these distractions are actually useful. In this seminar, I offer four techniques young wordsmiths can employ when they’re feeling blocked, burnt out, or simply need a break. These alternatives to binge-watching can help bring much needed balance and life experience to a writer’s journey.
Option # 2:
Writing Through Pain & Loss This workshop, designed for teens 14+, outlines tips and techniques for tackling pain on the page. The session offers techniques for young authors with aspirations to share their work with a wider audience, and provides guidance for teens who want to put difficult experiences into words for themselves. In this seminar, we maneuver through the sensitive experience of writing to and through challenging experiences such as the loss of loved ones, and health crises.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go—Writing Place and Displacement This workshop, geared towards wordsmiths 14+, covers ways to write about place and space. It explores how to create a sense of atmosphere and location, and how and why to treat a place as a character, with its own development, personality, and arc. Together, we’ll explore how to write about places where you may have spent little (or no) time, with emphasis on accuracy and respect. We’ll also ways to write a place for yourself in communities where you don’t seem to fit in.
